Easily upgrade your 15x15 fresh air vent to DUKA One
Do you have an older 15x15 fresh air vent in the external wall? In many cases, you can upgrade it to a modern DUKA One ventilation system with heat recovery – without having to install a major duct system in your home.
In the video, we show, step by step, how to remove an existing fresh air vent and how the opening can be used to install a DUKA One unit. This makes the solution particularly suitable for homes, holiday homes, annexes, allotment cottages and other places where you want better ventilation in one room at a time.
The DUKA One is installed directly into the external wall and therefore does not require pipework to run throughout the entire home. The unit operates in a cycle whereby it first extracts the warm indoor air and stores the heat in the ceramic core. The motor then reverses direction, allowing fresh outside air to be drawn in and heated as it passes through the core. Several DUKA One models operate in 70-second intervals.
From fresh air vent to heat recovery
A traditional fresh-air valve lets fresh air in, but without heat recovery. When upgraded to DUKA One, you get more active and controlled ventilation, which helps to improve the indoor climate whilst utilising the heat from the air being extracted.
Several DUKA One models with a pipe diameter of Ø100 mm are suitable for upgrading an Ø105 mm or 150 x 150 mm fresh air vent to a heat recovery solution. The DUKA One S4 and S4 Wi-Fi are also described as ideal for upgrading Ø105 mm or 150 x 150 mm fresh air valves.
This is how the assembly is done
01
The internal flap valve and the external grille are removed.
Leave the square wall penetration in the wall
02
The supplied wedges are placed in the channel so that a recess is created in the middle.
The wedges are placed so that the pipe rests on the wedges with a slight fall outwards. Secure the wedges with a little tape if necessary.Check with a spirit level. This is done to ensure that condensation from heat recovery can drain away.
03
The pipe is placed in the duct and cut to size
The pipe is cut so that it is flush with the wall on the inside and protrudes approximately 5 mm on the outside.
04
The pipe is fastened with insulating PU foam.
Other insulating materials can also be used.
05
Excess foam is removed, and the surface is smoothed
The surface is smoothed with filler and possibly sealant.
05
Holes are marked for the interior and exterior storm screen
Holes are marked with the supplied template, or with the parts themselves.
06
The unit is attached to match the pipe and installed according to the manual.
Once the installation is complete, your DUKA One is ready for use.
Which DUKA One should you choose?
The choice of model depends mainly on which room the unit is to be installed in.
For wet rooms
Recommended for bathroom, utility room and toilet DUKA One Pro 25 B. It has been developed specifically for wet rooms and has a built-in humidity sensor. When the humidity sensor is activated, the unit switches to forced operation with pure extraction, so humid air is vented outdoors instead of being moved on to adjacent rooms.

For living rooms and storage rooms
For living rooms, bedrooms, basements, storage rooms, holiday homes and similar spaces, you can choose from a range of DUKA One models.
DUKA One Pro 25 S and DUKA One Pro 25 S Wi-Fi are compact Ø100 units with a 165 mm motor and core, making them suitable for thinner walls, for example in holiday homes, annexes and allotment cottages. The Pro 25 S Wi-Fi also features app control and the option to wirelessly link multiple Wi-Fi units.
DUKA One S4 and DUKA One S4 Wi-Fi are comfortable ventilation solutions with heat recovery and an adjustable internal screen, which can help reduce draughts. When used to improve ventilation, a single DUKA One S4 unit can cover up to 14 m². The DUKA One S4 Wi-Fi can be controlled via the DUKA One app, where you can, amongst other things, adjust the ventilation speed and set a weekly schedule.
