For your safety, every fan is factory-tested before leaving production.
DUKA S8
The S8 is a multi-function fan that can be installed in bathrooms, living areas (with eight ventilation solutions) or used as an energy-saving heat mover. With the unique function selector, it is simple to change the function. Lift the round front cover and select the function.
Bathroom extractor fan (with eight selectable functions)
S8 has eight selectable functions for ventilation tasks in all residential properties with natural ventilation. It is designed and approved for use in the home's wet rooms (IP44).
Mounted on exterior wall or ceiling (separate and well-insulated duct Ø80 – 125 mm).
Heat transfer – save energy
S8 has a built-in electronic thermostat that controls the fan to move excess heat from, for example, a living room with a wood-burning stove to an adjoining room.
Don't forget the air supply
To achieve good and optimal ventilation in the room, you must also ensure:
– Air supply to the wet room, e.g. via a gap under the door, or another vent/grille.
- Fresh air enters the room, for example via telescopic vents.

- Damage occurs due to voltage fluctuations in the power grid.
- Technical components have been added or removed in the device.
- Unauthorised repairs have been made to the device.
- The device is faulty due to force majeure (lightning, fire, flood, earthquake, etc.).
- No receipt can be presented for the purchase.
- The warranty has expired.

Operating guidelines
The fan must only operate in temperatures from +1 °C to +40 °C.
The fan has an ingress protection rating of IP44 and must not be placed in wet zones. Find out more at sik.dk and in the QuickGuide.
The fan is designed for 230 V AC, 50 Hz. Double insulated, must not be connected to earth.

Installation
NOTE: The fan is intended for fixed installation and must be connected by an authorised electrician.
Preparations
Ensure that the pipework is insulated. If it is not insulated with at least 50 mm of insulation, the following may occur:

Placement of ventilator
The fan must be installed in accordance with the applicable regulations for electrical installations in wet rooms. Find out more at SIK.dk
and the QuickGuide.

Wiring
The fan is fitted to the outside of the wall or ceiling. A shut-off damper can only be fitted if the fan is wall-mounted.
Suitable for duct size Ø100 mm.

Preparing fan
The motor unit has a bayonet fitting, which makes it easy to set up and clean.
1. Grasp the front and turn anti-clockwise. Lift the motor unit off the wall bracket.
2. The cover of the wall frame is held in place by 3 screws (PH1). Loosen the screws and remove the cover.
3. If the cable is to be routed through the top of the front panel, a hole must be made in the front panel for the cable. Here, a thinner section has been cut out of the cover so that
is cut off. Use the square piece in the cardboard template to mark out the cutout for the best result.

Assembly of the wall frame
1. Mark the holes using the supplied template.
Drill holes and insert wall plugs into the holes
3. Screw the wall frame firmly to the surface (PH2 x3). Ensure the ”UP” marking points upwards for wall mounting.

Electrical connection
Please note! Must be connected by a qualified installer. For all electrical work on the fan, the power supply must be disconnected.
The fan is designed for 230 V AC, 50 Hz. Double insulated, must not be connected to earth.
1. Run the cable to the XP1 junction box
– The fan can also be connected to 12V via the XP2 connector. Do not connect power to both.

Seals
To prevent water from entering the engine, the partition frame has several integrated seals (seal with silicone, for example, if necessary):
1. On the reverse side, seal against the substrate.
2. At the cable entry point.
3. At the screw bushings (3 in total). Note: Any gap between the bushing and the ventilation pipe must be sealed.
Fit cover and front
1. Screw the lid on
2. Fit the front and turn clockwise until the front is locked in the bayonet fitting.
3. Switch on the power

Switch
The fan is delivered switched off with the switch so that ”OFF” is visible. The fan is activated by sliding the switch so that ”ON” can be seen.
According to the EN 60335-1 standard, the fan must be capable of
disconnected from the mains electricity supply. This is fulfilled by the built-in
switch (2-pole, 3 mm contact gap).
DUKA Smart App
Find the DUKA Smart App in the Google Play Store or App Store.
With the DUKA Smart App you can configure all the S8 fan's sensors, overrun timer, speed, and modes. Get an overview of functions in the section:

It is only necessary to create a user in the app by connecting to a home network. From here, it will be possible to connect one or more devices.

Create an account and log in to the DUKA Smart App
1. Tap ‘LOG IN TO ACCOUNT’ below the list of devices.
A. If you already have a DUKA Smart App user account: Enter your email address and password, press LOG IN and go to step 5.
B. If you don't have a DUKA Smart App user, continue to step 2.
2. Tap REGISTER.
3. enter your email and desired password.
4. Tick the box and accept the terms and conditions before clicking ‘REGISTER’.

Setup options
NOTE: The device can only be connected to the main router's 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal.
There are three ways to connect to your fan.

To connect to the device's local network:
1. Press Universal connection under the device list
2. Select the S8 product group
3. Tap Select network
4. Select the network ID for the device you wish to connect to.

2 Connect the fan to your home network via a local connection
1. Connect locally to the fan as described in the previous instruction: ”Local connection to the fan”
2. Press the settings button
3. Select Wi-Fi setup
4. Tap ”Client”
5. Select the 2.4 GHz home network you wish to add the device to and enter the password for your home network.
6. By ticking the box (recommended) next to ”allow device management via cloud server”, you can control the fan via the app, even if you don’t
is connected to your home network. If you do not tick the box, you can only control your fan while you are connected to the same home network
The fan will now take 30 seconds to connect to your home network.

7. Change your mobile’s Wi-Fi connection so that you are connected to the network you have added the fan to. Also make sure you have created a user

8. The main menu is opened by pressing the menu icon ’☰’
9. Tap ”ADD NEW”
10. Select ”Network device search”
11. Select ”S8”
Find your 2.4 GHz home network that you have connected the fan to and press ”NEXT”
The app will now search the network for the fan. It will now appear as ”S8” and when you select it, it will be added to your user profile.

3 Connect the fan to the home network using the setup function
Open unit list and press ”ADD NEW”
2. Select connection guide
3. Press S8 in the Connection Guide.
4. Select the home network you wish to connect the device to and enter the password for that network. Then press NEXT.

5. Activate SETUP MODE on the device you wish to connect.
This is done by switching the device off and on at the wall switch twice
second intervals at least 3 times. Continue turning off and on
with a 2-second interval and repeat until the blue LED on the front of the fan
starts flashing. Stop immediately and leave the switch in the ”ON” position.
6. Then click NEXT in the app
7. Select the product group S8
8. Enter the desired name and password for the device

The device now takes around 30 seconds to connect to the network
while your mobile connects back to the home network.
The device can now be found under ”device list” in the app.

Job descriptions

Wi-Fi management
The fan can be connected to the Wi-Fi network and, using the app, set up in standby, interval or 24-hour mode, so that with low power consumption it only runs to the extent and requirement that suits you.
Moisture management
Car – Intelligent humidity control. Here, the fan only reacts when you actively do something that raises the humidity level.
This function needs time to learn about the indoor climate and the room for optimal operation.
Manual – Set from 40 % to 80 %. If the fan exceeds the selected level, it will start up at the selected speed.


Motion and light sensor
When the motion and light sensor is activated, the fan starts at the preset speed from the range of 40, 60, 90 or 115 m³/h. When motion is no longer detected, the fan continues for 30 seconds and then returns to the previously set speed.
Heat flow
Adjusted by temperature and speed. When the temperature is exceeded, the fan switches to the selected speed.
When the temperature is below the selected level, the fan will revert to the previous setting.


Boost
The fan runs at maximum speed: 115 m³/h for Ø 100 mm and 140 m³/h for Ø 125 mm.
Background ventilation – Sensor ventilation
The three basic ventilation modes allow you to select speeds of 20, 40 or 60 m³/h.
With sensor control, you can select forced operation speeds of 60, 90, and 115 m³/h.


24-hour function
The fan runs constantly at a low speed 24/7. If a sensor detects a change, the fan switches to a speed corresponding to the sensor activation. The speed in 24-hour mode can be adjusted within the speeds: 20, 40 or 60 m³/h.
time-lagged running
If the overrun timer is set, the fan will continue to operate after a sensor has been activated and no longer detects levels above the selected ones.
The overrun time is set to 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes.


Do not disturb (Low-speed ventilation)
Specify a fixed period during the day when the fan must not start or increase speed. If the fan is set to 24-hour mode, it will continue at its lowest speed during the ”do not disturb” period.
interval function
If the fan has not been active for 24 hours, this mode will start the fan every 12 hours for 30 minutes at the selected speed (this function is only available when ”24-hour mode” is disabled).


Air quality sensor
Manual – If the air pollution level exceeds the preset limit, the fan switches to the selected speed.
Car – intelligent sensor. This mode automatically adapts to changes in air quality and adjusts the fan speed to achieve the optimum operating level in the room. The fan's operating algorithm is determined by analysing the air quality.
The air quality sensor detects several VOCs and other common air pollutants which may originate from, for example, moisture, perfume, sweat, cooking or human outgassing. The sensor's readings are processed by an algorithm that converts them into an Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) index. The IAQ scale ranges from 0 (clean air) to 500 (heavily polluted air). The system automatically calibrates the sensor based on the environments in which it is used, ensuring the user receives stable and reliable measurements.
Maintenance
The fan must be maintained at least once every 6 months.
Maintenance steps:
• Set the fan switch to ”OFF”, and ensure that the power supply is switched off.

• Remove the front panel and wipe the fan parts with a dry cloth and/or a soft brush.
• Reinstall the front panel on the cooker hood.

• Switch on the power to the fan and set the switch to ”ON”.
NOTE: Ensure that water or other liquids do not come into contact with the electrical components.

Troubleshooting
